Health Initiatives
LPHI is home to a variety of focused health initiatives that are staffed and managed in-house, while we partner with outside organizations to assist with or manage a number of additional initiatives. These initiatives are divided into two groups and placed under the banner of either the Division of Health Promotion and Disease prevention or the Division of Health Systems Development.
Centered primarily on the social, physical, economic and political factors that affect health, programs within LPHI’s Division of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention include The Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living, Steps to a Healthier New Orleans and Stay Healthy Louisiana.
LPHI’s Health Promotion and Disease Prevention programs provide individuals with the tools they need to make informed decisions about their well being by utilizing interventions developed through LPHI’s social marketing methodology.
The programs managed by LPHI’s Division of Health Systems Development provide leadership, convening, brokering, technical assistance, resource acquisition and management support to a variety of community partners and organizations. The goal of this division is to help advance our communities by improving population health and reducing disparities in health outcomes through the development of high quality, accessible and integrated healthcare systems.
Programs and projects that fall within LPHI’s Division of Health Systems Development include the Partnership for Access to Healthcare, the 2006 Louisiana Health and Population Survey, School Health Connection and the Behavioral Health Action Network.
